Come and rediscover yourself in our unique corner of New Zealand.

Our legacy: family, merino, and the high country

Awapiri Station was purchased in 1966 by Sally's parents, who moved here from the Canterbury high country to raise their family and breed merino sheep. Our family has always been passionate about quality fine merino wool and the unique environment of the New Zealand high country. In 2012, Eric and Sally returned from Canterbury themselves to continue farming Awapiri Station, preparing it for the next generation.

We believe in blending the traditional with the modern; we still use horses for transport to the furthest reaches of the station, yet we embrace new technology and enjoy modern comforts like hot showers and solar lighting at the end of a hard day's work. This balance allows us to preserve our heritage while offering the best experiences to our guests.
